Skills Set Mapping – Waste Management
Available for Download - Skills for the Waste Management Sector in Scotland
"Skills for the Waste Management Sector in Scotland" provides a clear
analysis of skills requirements, existing
skills and training options, and future requirements for training in the Waste sector. It drew on survey work with employers and training organisations in the sector.
The report includes:
- a short review of data on current employment and training provision for the sector, and an analysis of the way in which the sector will have to develop in the future
- an examination of the skills which the sector will require for the future. This was based on Interviews with a industry representatives
- a proposed ‘Skills Set’ for the sector which highlight the skills required to meet a full range of employment opportunities
- a review of skills and training opportunities for the sector, through
examination of the content of existing training courses (including ‘on-the-job’ training), and interviews with a representative sample of training providers
- ways in which training should be developed and delivered in Scotland
A seminar was held in Perth in June 2005 to disseminate the research findings, raise awareness and seek feedback on the report recommendations.
This research was carried out on behalf of Forward Scotland by Connect 3 in association with the Sustainable Development Research Centre.
