Skills Set Mapping – Renewable Energy
Available for Download - Skills for Renewable Energy in Scotland
"Skills for Renewable Energy in Scotland" provided a clear analysis of skills requirements, existing skills and training options, and future requirements for training in the sector.
This involved a representative sample of employers and training organisations from throughout Scotland.
The report includes:
- a short review of data on current employment and training provision for the renewable energy sector and an analysis of the way in which the sector is likely to develop in the future
- interviews with industry representatives within the renewable energy sector in order to examine future skills requirements
a ‘Skills Set’ for the sector highlighting the skills required to meet a full range of employment opportunities and identifying the various entry levels to the sector
- a review of skills and training opportunities for the sector, through examination of the content of existing training courses (including ‘on-the-job’ training), and interviews with a representative sample of training providers
- ways in which training should be developed and delivered in Scotland, in order to ensure that the employment potential of the renewable energy sector can be realised
A plenary session was held in Aberdeen at the All Energy Conference in June 2005 to disseminate the research findings, raise awareness and seek feedback on the report recommendations.
