This research involved a review of the potential of Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) and Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes for the categorisation of jobs in the environment, particularly emerging jobs in Waste, Energy, Transport and Natural Environment Sectors. It includes:
- A review of present practice in job and industry classification
- An analysis of emerging jobs in the Waste, Energy, Transport and Natural Environment sectors and their fit with the present classification system
Recommendations on the potential of the present system of classification and any changes that need to be made to the practice
